Guilt Free Mouth watering Custard Pudding
I’m a big fan of fruit custard made by my grandma. I always used to sit by the kitchen counter and watch her make custard. She would carefully stir the milk for minutes without getting tired. I initially thought i would make a bowl of fruit custard for the evening. While googling for recipes, i came across this simple yet absolutely inviting custard pudding. And guess what? It is EGG-LESS. I couldn’t wait to try the recipe and couldn’t contain my excitement 😀
I was a little skeptical as i have never made custard until now. Fortunately, it came out so well and was relished by all. Do try this guilt free pudding and leave your comments 🙂
Dish: Egg-less Custard Pudding
- Milk-2 cups(400 ml)
- Custard powder(vanilla flavored)-3 tbsp
- Sugar-1/2 cup
- Butter-1 tbsp
- Chopped Fruits(optional)
In a bowl, add sugar, custard powder and 4 tbsp of milk and stir until the sugar dissolves completely
Heat milk in a pan on medium flame and add the custard-sugar mixture once bubbles form at the sides.
Keep stirring on low flame making sure that no lumps are formed
Add butter and stir continuously until it becomes thick.
It shouldn’t be runny or too thick i.e it should come off easily without sticking when scraped with a spoon
Switch off the flame when it is thick enough and transfer it to suitable moulds/ramekins or any cake tin
Let it cool for a while and refrigerate for at least an hour before serving
Run a knife through the edges and invert.
Garnish with chopped fruits/nuts or tutie frutti and serve.
- Make sure you get the consistency right. Keep stirring until the custard is thick enough. It shouldn’t be runny and at the same time it shouldn’t stick to the spoon.
- Cook on low flame
- I used pomengranate. You can use any fruit of your choice or chocolate shavings/chips
